مِلاكُthe mainstay الأمرِof affairs تَقْوَىfear of اللهِGod فاجعَلْso make
مِلاكُ الأمرِ تَقْوَى اللهِ فاجعَلْ
تُقاهُfear of Him عُدَّةًa provision لِصَلاحِfor the soundness of أمْرِكْyour affairs
تُقاهُ عُدَّةً لِصَلاحِ أمْرِكْ
The mainstay of affairs is fear of God, so make
The command's angel is piety of God, so make
fear of Him your provision for setting your affairs right.
It a means to reform your affairs,
وبادِرْand hasten نَحْوَtoward طاعَتِهِobedience to Him بِعَزْمٍwith resolve
وبادِرْ نَحْوَ طاعَتِهِ بِعَزْمٍ
فَماfor … not تَدريyou know مَتىwhen يُمْضَىis brought to an end بعُمْرِكْwith your life
فَما تَدري مَتى يُمْضَى بعُمْرِكْ
And hasten toward obedience to Him with resolve,
And hasten to obey Him with resolve,
for you do not know when your life will be brought to an end.
For you know not when your life will end.
