وقائِمةٍand one standing فيin صُفوفِthe ranks of الرِّجالِthe men
وقائِمةٍ في صُفوفِ الرِّجالِ
تُديرُshe passes around الكُؤوسَthe cups ولاand not تَشربُshe drinks تَسْكَرُshe grows drunk
تُديرُ الكُؤوسَ ولا تَشربُ تَسْكَرُ
And one standing in the ranks of men,
Standing in rows amongst men
She passes the cups around and, though she does not drink, grows drunk.
She pours the cups but does not drink to get drunk
لَهاshe has أرجُلٌlegs قَدْalready رَسَتْhave settled firmly فيin الثَّرىthe soil
لَها أرجُلٌ قَدْ رَسَتْ في الثَّرى
وفَوْقَand above الثُّريّاthe Pleiades لَهاshe has مَرْقَبُa lookout مَظْهَرُa place of display
وفَوْقَ الثُّريّا لَها مَرْقَبُ مَظْهَرُ
She has legs already firmly anchored in the soil.
She has legs that are planted in the ground
And above the Pleiades she has a lookout, a place of display.
And above the ground she has a splendid view
وتُغْشَىand she is covered عَلىbefore أعيُنِthe eyes of النَّاسِthe people طُرّاًall, without exception
وتُغْشَى عَلى أعيُنِ النَّاسِ طُرّاً
وتَحْمِلُand she bears كَرْهاًunwillingly ولاand no مَعْتَبُreproach مُنكِرُone who objects
وتَحْمِلُ كَرْهاً ولا مَعْتَبُ مُنكِرُ
And she is covered in full view of everyone,
She overwhelms people's eyes with her ability to fly
And she bears unwillingly, with neither reproach nor anyone objecting.
She harbors resentment but does not complain or object
