والحَقُّ أنَّ البعادَ يُصْلي

I thought distance would console me,

yet the truth is that separation scorches.

But truly, distance afflicts me.

ما خَلَقَ اللهُ شَرَّ خَطْبٍ

مِنْ فُرقَةٍ في زَمانِ وَصْلِ

مِنْ فُرقَةٍ في زَمانِ وَصْلِ

God has created no worse calamity

God has created no greater evil

than separation in a time of union.
