شَهِدَتْhas borne witness لِحُسْنِكَto your beauty آيَةٌa sign لاnot تُنْكَرُis denied
شَهِدَتْ لِحُسْنِكَ آيَةٌ لا تُنْكَرُ
خُطَّتْwere inscribed بِهاthrough it فيon صَفْحِthe surface of خَدِّكَyour cheek أسْطُرُlines
خُطَّتْ بِها في صَفْحِ خَدِّكَ أسْطُرُ
An undeniable sign has borne witness to your beauty;
A sign of your beauty is witnessed, one cannot deny
Through it, lines were inscribed on the surface of your cheek.
Inscribed on the page of your cheek, lines of splendor
أسْرارُsecrets حُسنٍbeauty فيon صَحيفةِthe page of وَجْنَةٍa cheek
أسْرارُ حُسنٍ في صَحيفةِ وَجْنَةٍ
تُوشَىis embroidered بأقْلامِby the pens of الصِّباyouth وتُحَبَّرُand is embellished
تُوشَى بأقْلامِ الصِّبا وتُحَبَّرُ
Secrets of beauty on the page of a cheek,
Secrets of beauty on the parchment of a delicate cheek
Embroidered by the pens of youth and embellished.
Adorned by the pens of youth and dyed in saffron
فَنَعِيمُthus the bliss كُلِّevery مُتَيَّمٍlovesick soul وشَقاؤهُand his misery
فَنَعِيمُ كُلِّ مُتَيَّمٍ وشَقاؤهُ
حَسبُaccording to الَّذيwhat قَدْalready خُطَّwas inscribed فِيهاupon it تُقْدَرُare determined
حَسبُ الَّذي قَدْ خُطَّ فِيها تُقْدَرُ
Thus each lovesick soul's bliss and misery
Thus the bliss and agony of every admirer
Are determined according to what has been inscribed upon it.
Is as per what has been prescribed for him in it
ياO مَنْyou whom أغارُI am jealous عَلَيْهِover him مِنْهُof himself وإنَّنيand indeed I
يا مَنْ أغارُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْهُ وإنَّني
مِنِّيof myself عَلَيْهِover him عَلىdespite نَواهhis distance لأغْيَرُindeed more jealous
مِنِّي عَلَيْهِ عَلى نَواه لأغْيَرُ
O you, over whom I am jealous even of yourself—and I
O you whom I'm jealous of, yet I
Am still more jealous of myself over you, despite your distance.
Am more jealous of him for desiring you
لاdo not تَصْدَعَنْshatter كَبدِيmy liver بِجَبْرِby consoling حَواسِديthose who envy me
لا تَصْدَعَنْ كَبدِي بِجَبْرِ حَواسِدي
فَلطَالَماfor so often باتَتْit spent the night عَلَيْكover you تَفَطَّرُsplitting apart
فَلطَالَما باتَتْ عَلَيْك تَفَطَّرُ
Do not shatter my liver by consoling those who envy me;
Do not break my heart with the compulsion of rivals
For often it has spent the night splitting apart over you.
