فما يقبل اليوم منكَ اعتذار
You cast off the bridle as the hair on your cheeks grayed.
You shed the veil of modesty with graying locks,
So no excuse from you is accepted today.
No excuse today could be accepted from you.

وهذا المشيب فأين الوقار
And they said, “Gray hair is a young man's dignity.”
They said gray hair brings dignity to the youth,
And here is gray hair—where, then, is dignity?
Yet where is the dignity in this grayness?
