طهِّر بِمَاءِ التُّقى جَنابَك

طهِّر بِمَاءِ التُّقى جَنابَك

واصحَب عَلى حَالِهِ زَمَانَك

واصحَب عَلى حَالِهِ زَمَانَك

Purify your person with the water of piety.

Purify your inner self with the water of piety

And keep company with your age as it is.

And accept the times as they are

وَدَارِ أبناءَهُ عَسى أن

وَدَارِ أبناءَهُ عَسى أن

تَنالَ مِن بُغيَتِهِم أمانَك

تَنالَ مِن بُغيَتِهِم أمانَك

And deal tactfully with its sons, in the hope that

And maybe in the home of its sons

you may secure your safety from their desires.

You will find safety from their tyranny

وَاصمُت إِذا ما سَمِعتَ لغواً

وَاصمُت إِذا ما سَمِعتَ لغواً

وَلاَ تُحَرِّك بهِ لسَانَك

وَلاَ تُحَرِّك بهِ لسَانَك

And be silent whenever you hear idle talk.

And be silent when you hear nonsense

And do not stir your tongue with it.

And do not move your tongue with it
