قدindeed أَحدثhave introduced الناسthe people أموراًpractices فلاso do not
قد أَحدث الناس أموراً فلا
تَعَملact بهاupon them إنيindeed, I امروءٌa man ناصحoffering sincere advice
تَعَمل بها إني امروءٌ ناصح
People have indeed introduced new practices, so do not
People have innovated matters, so do not
act upon them; I am a man offering sincere advice.
Act upon them, I am an advising man
فماfor ... is not جِماعُthe sum الخَيرِof goodness الاexcept الّذيthat which
فما جِماعُ الخَيرِ الا الّذي
كانwas عَليهupon it السّلفthe predecessors الصّالحrighteous
كان عَليه السّلف الصّالح
For the sum of all good is nothing but what
The collection of good is only that
the righteous predecessors followed.
