يُنيل المرء تبصرةً وذكرى
إذاwhen ماemphatic particle ابيضّturned white فوداهhis two temples وشاباand grew gray
إذا ما ابيضّ فوداه وشابا
It grants a person insight and a reminder
A man gains insight and memory
when his two temples turn white and grow gray.
When his cheeks turn white and his youth fades
وماand not يرجىis hoped for لتوبتهfor his repentance قبولٌacceptance
وما يرجى لتوبته قبولٌ
إذاif مزجhe mixed الرياءostentation بهاwith it وشاباand tainted it
إذا مزج الرياء بها وشابا
Nor is there hope of acceptance for his repentance
No acceptance of repentance can be hoped
if he mixes ostentation into it and taints it.
If it’s mixed with hypocrisy in his fading youth
