Lord, if You do not grant me ample means,

لا احب اللبثَ في زمنٍ

حاجتي فيه إلى البشر

I do not wish to linger in an age

I do not love lingering in an age

in which I must depend upon other people:

in which I must depend on people.

فهُمُ كسرٌ لمنجَبر

فهُمُ كسرٌ لمنجَبر

ما همُ جَبرٌ لمنكسرِ

ما همُ جَبرٌ لمنكسرِ

for they break whoever is whole;

For they break those who have healed;

they do not mend whoever is broken.

they do not mend those who are broken.
