تَأَنَّ في الأَمر لا تكن عَجِلا

تَأَنَّ في الأَمر لا تكن عَجِلا

فمن تأنَى أصاب او كَادَا

فمن تأنَى أصاب او كَادَا

Take your time in every matter; do not be hasty.

Take your time in matters; do not be hasty.

Whoever takes his time hits the mark—or comes close.

For whoever takes his time hits the mark, or nearly does.

وكُن بحبلِ الإله مُعتَصِماً

وكُن بحبلِ الإله مُعتَصِماً

تَأَمَن به بَغيَ كلَّ من كادا

تَأَمَن به بَغيَ كلَّ من كادا

Hold fast to the rope of God;

And hold fast to the rope of God;

through it you will be safe from the aggression of every schemer.

Through it, you will be safe from the aggression of all who plot.

فكم رَجاهُ فنالَ بغيتَه

فكم رَجاهُ فنالَ بغيتَه

عبدٌ مسيءٌ بنفسه كادا

عبدٌ مسيءٌ بنفسه كادا

How many have hoped in Him and attained their desire—

For many a one has hoped in Him and attained his desire—

a servant sinning against his own soul, already near ruin.

A sinful servant in his death throes.

ومن تَطُل صحبةُ الومان له

ومن تَطُل صحبةُ الومان له

يلقَ خُطوباً به وأَنكادا

يلقَ خُطوباً به وأَنكادا

Whoever keeps company with Time for long

And whoever keeps company with time [probable reading] for long

will meet, at its hands, grave trials and bitter hardships.

Will encounter calamities and sorrows in it.
