تيسين ضمّهما وظبيا مجلس
Had you seen, on a day long past,
Had you but seen, since the day drew apart,
two he-goats and a gazelle brought together in a gathering,
An ibex and a gazelle sit gathered,
لعَجبتَyou would have marveled قُبحاًugliness مِنهماfrom the two of them وملاحةand beauty

منه وقلت حظيرة ام مكنِس
you would have marveled at the pair’s ugliness and the beauty
You'd stand amazed how ugly and coarse
of the gazelle, and said, “A pen, or a gazelle’s lair?”
Were the two, an enclosure or a barnyard.
