بِخُبزه الممنوع أم مَائه

بِخُبزه الممنوع أم مَائه

جَرَّ علينا برد إيِتائه

جَرَّ علينا برد إيِتائه

Was it with his withheld bread, or his water,

With his forbidden bread or water,

that he drew over us the mantle of his giving?

He brought upon us the cold of his coming.

ليت الفَتَى مُنذُ زمانٍ فني

If only the young man had perished long ago,
