قليلٌa small thing لديناto us أنthat يُباحَbe made lawful لكِfor you الدَّمُthe blood
Permit my blood to be shed, O Umm ʿAmr, or spare it;
My kin allow my blood or spare my life
It is a small thing to us that blood be yours to shed.
Little we own that blood be spared for thee
إذاif هوَit لمnot يُسفَكbe shed بسيفٍby a sword فإننيthen indeed I

If it is not shed by a sword, then I
If by sword unfelled, my blood remains inside
will turn it into tears shed upon the cheek.
I render it as tears down cheeks that glide
