كذاlikewise منone who يَعمis blind لاnot يَخشَfears الظَّلاماthe darkness
I see that one with faults cares nothing for reproach;
I see the one with flaws does not care for blame
Likewise, one who is blind does not fear the darkness.
Just as one with insight does not fear the dark
تزاحمتcrowded together النفوسُsouls علىfor المَساويvices
وماand not ألقىI find علىfor فَضلٍvirtue زِحَامَاa crowd
Souls have crowded around vices,
Souls competed for equality
Yet I find no crowd around virtue.
Yet excellence drew no crowds
وصارَand became الناسُthe people كُلُّهمُall of them خِداعاًdeceit
فَصِرتُso I have come to أَشُكُّI doubt فيin نفسيmyself اتهاماًout of suspicion
And people have all become deceitful,
And people all turned to deceit
So I have come to cast suspicion on myself.
So I began to doubt myself with accusations

Feign ignorance with the fool, for it is wise,
Ignore the ignorant, for if you reason
When you keep company with the blind, to feign blindness.
Accompanying a fool, pretend to be blind
