I have left you the world you plunged into,

So that the base world and the base man may be paired.

Yours are riches in white and yellow coins,

And my riches are inkwells and written pages.

Your halter will soon wear away,

But the lessons of my learning will never fade.

You imagine that your merit is the horizon of mine,

Yet the suns have already blotted out its nights.

And, in delusion, you aspire to equal me—

But how can copper coins compare with gold dinars?
