تقولُshe says لوif كانhe were عاشقاًa lover دَنِفاًwasting away
تقولُ لو كان عاشقاً دَنِفاً
إذاًthen بَدَتwould appear صُفرةٌpallor بَخدَّيهِon his two cheeks
إذاً بَدَت صُفرةٌ بَخدَّيهِ
She says, “If he were a lover wasting away,
Then pallor would show upon his cheeks.”
لاdo not تثنكريهdisbelieve him فإنَّfor indeed صُفرَتَهhis pallor
لا تثنكريه فإنَّ صُفرَتَه
غَطَّتcovered عليهاover it دماءُthe blood عَينَيهِof his two eyes
غَطَّت عليها دماءُ عَينَيهِ
Do not disbelieve him, for his pallor
Has been covered by the blood of his eyes.
