لاdo not تمرحَنَّjest معwith الشريفِthe noble فَيعتَدِيlest he transgress
لا تمرحَنَّ مع الشريفِ فَيعتَدِي
حقاًin earnest عليكagainst you ولاnor الدَّنيthe base فَيَجتَريlest he grow insolent
حقاً عليك ولا الدَّني فَيَجتَري
Do not jest with the noble, lest he transgress
Do not jest with the noble one, lest he transgress
Against you in earnest; nor with the base, lest he grow insolent.
Truly against you, nor the lowly one, lest he presume
