وإذاand if جَزِعتَyou grieve منover الذيthat which هوit فَائِتٌlost
وإذا جَزِعتَ من الذي هو فَائِتٌ
شَمِتَgloated العَدُوُّthe enemy ولمand did not يَعُدreturn مَاwhat فَاتَاwas lost
شَمِتَ العَدُوُّ ولم يَعُد مَا فَاتَا
And if you grieve over what is lost,
When you grieve for what is past and gone
The enemy gloats, and what is gone does not return.
The enemy rejoices, but time will not restore the vanished days.
فالبسso put on لباسَgarment الصبَّرpatience عندat the time of مُلمَّةٍa calamity
فالبس لباسَ الصبَّر عند مُلمَّةٍ
واقنعand be content بماwith what أَعطىgave الإلهُGod وآتىand bestowed
واقنع بما أَعطى الإلهُ وآتى
So put on the garment of patience when calamity strikes,
So don when misfortune strikes the garment of patience,
And be content with what God has given and bestowed.
And be content with what God has given and brought to you.
