تأَن فالمرءُ إن تَأَنَّى

تأَن فالمرءُ إن تَأَنَّى

أَدركَ لا شكَّ ما تَمَنَّى

أَدركَ لا شكَّ ما تَمَنَّى

Take your time, for if a person takes his time,

Patience leads surely to attainment,

He will attain, without doubt, what he wishes for.

No doubt, of what one desires,

وما لمُستَوفِزٍ عَجُول

وما لمُستَوفِزٍ عَجُول

حَظِّ سوَى أنه تَعَنَّى

حَظِّ سوَى أنه تَعَنَّى

And a restless, hasty person has no

While hasty zeal begets nothing

Gain except the hardship he has endured.

But repeated frustration.
