رأيتُ العودَ مشتقاً

من العود بإتقانِ

من العود بإتقانِ

I saw the lute derived

I saw the lute yearning

from aloeswood with skill;

For the lute with perfection

فهذا طِيبُ آنافٍ

فهذا طِيبُ آنافٍ

وهذا طِيبُ آذانِ

وهذا طِيبُ آذانِ

so this is a delight to noses,

So this is pleasing to the breath

and this a delight to ears.

And that is pleasing to the ears
