Would that the raven would cry again for me today—then perhaps
Would that the raven today might bring back to me
their parting might depart from me, for it has lingered.
It may be between us my eyes have reconciled

I say, while the night has lowered its veils,
I say and the night spreads out its hair
and has sworn not to end—and kept its oath.
Though resolved it be not to end, so has it fulfilled

And the star has taken its place on the sky's horizon, so it does not
The stars grasped the horizons of heaven but neither
move on, nor is it turning toward setting.
Pass on nor from revolution turn they away

You would think it mistaken, or frightened and trembling,
Deem it mistaken or fearful, distraught
or awaiting a tryst, or a lover wasting away.
Or keeping tryst or enamoured and tenderly bowed
