وقالوا بعيد قلت حسبي بأنه

And they said, “He is far away.” I said: it is enough for me that he is

They said "Far away". I said "It's enough for me that

with me in an age that cannot bear a noble one.

He is with me in a time that cannot bear the glorious.

تمر علي الشمس مثل مزورها

تمر علي الشمس مثل مزورها

به كل يوم يستنير جديدا

به كل يوم يستنير جديدا

The sun passes over me as over the one it visits [wording unclear];

The sun passes over me like its visitor

through him, each day shines anew.

With it each day is illuminated anew.

وعلام إله الخلق يجمعنا معاً

وعلام إله الخلق يجمعنا معاً

كفى ذا التداني ما أريد مزيدا

كفى ذا التداني ما أريد مزيدا

And why does the God of creation bring us together?

And why would the God of all creation gather us together?

This closeness suffices; I want no more.

Enough is this proximity, I do not desire more.
