قليلa little وفاءfaithfulness منone who يهوىis loved يجلis highly esteemed
قليل وفاء من يهوى يجل
وعظمand a great amount وفاءfaithfulness منone who يهوىloves يقلis belittled
وعظم وفاء من يهوى يقل
A little fidelity from the beloved is welcome;
A little faithfulness from the beloved counts for much;
and a pledge of fidelity from the beloved is rare.
And great faithfulness from the lover counts for little.
فنادرةfor a rare deed الجبانthe coward أجلmore esteemed مماthan what
فنادرة الجبان أجل مما
يجيءcomes بهwith it الشجاعthe brave man المستقلthe self-reliant
يجيء به الشجاع المستقل
For a rare feat by a coward is nobler in our eyes
For a coward’s rare deed is more esteemed than what
than what the self-reliant brave man brings.
The self-reliant brave man brings forth.
