فالحبfor love فيهin it يخضعsubmits المستكبرthe arrogant one
Self-abasement in love is not to be condemned.
It is not shameful to be humble in love,
Humbling oneself in love is not to be condemned,
For in love even the arrogant submit.
For love makes the arrogant submit.
For in love, even the most arrogant are subdued.

قدindeed ذلhas been humbled فيهاin it قلبيmy heart المستنصرseeking aid
Do not marvel at my abasement on a journey:
Do not be surprised at my humiliation in his travels,
Do not wonder at my humiliation upon a departure,
On it, my heart, seeking aid, has indeed been humbled.
For in it my victorious heart has submitted.
In which my heart, once seeking victory, was brought low.

فيكونso it would be صبركyour patience ذلةًhumiliation إذwhen تصبرyou endure
The beloved is neither an equal nor adequate,
The beloved is not equal or sufficient,
The beloved is neither an equal nor sufficient,
Such that your patience would be humiliation when you endure.
So your patience is humiliation if you are patient.
So that your patience turns to humiliation whenever you endure.

An apple fell, and its fall caused pain;
An apple fell and its falling pained me,
An apple fell, and painful was its fall;
Would your cutting it be a victory worth mentioning?
Did severing it from you bring any memorable triumph?
Is cutting it to pieces by your hand a victory worth remembering?
