هوit السيفُthe sword سيفsword الصِّدقtruth أمّاas for غِرارُهُits cutting edge
هو السيفُ سيف الصِّدق أمّا غِرارُهُ
فَعَضْبٌthen sharp وأمّاand as for مَتْنُهُits flat فَصَقِيلthen polished
فَعَضْبٌ وأمّا مَتْنُهُ فَصَقِيل
It is the sword, the sword of truth; as for its edge,
It is the sword, the sword of truth, while its deception
It is sharp; and as for its flat, it is polished.
Is fury, and its blade is polished steel.
يَشيعُspreads لهُfor it الإفْرِنْدُthe blade’s watered pattern دَمعاًas tears كأنّمَاas though
يَشيعُ لهُ الإفْرِنْدُ دَمعاً كأنّمَا
تذكّرَremembered يومَthe day of الطَّفِّal-Taff فهوso it يَسيلflows
تذكّرَ يومَ الطَّفِّ فهو يَسيل
Its watered pattern spreads like tears, as though
The Franks shed tears for it as though
It remembered the day of al-Taff, and so it flows.
Recalling the Day of the Child, and the tears flow.
