أكوكبٌ في يمينِ يحيَى

أكوكبٌ في يمينِ يحيَى

أم صارمٌ باتكُ الغِرارِ

أم صارمٌ باتكُ الغِرارِ

Is it a star in Yahya’s right hand,

A star in Yahya's right hand,

or a keen sword with a severing edge?

Or a sharp sword in its sheath -

حاملُهُ للمعزِّ عَبْدٌ

حاملُهُ للمعزِّ عَبْدٌ

والسيفُ عبدٌ لذي الفَقارِ

والسيفُ عبدٌ لذي الفَقارِ

Its bearer is a servant of al-Muʿizz,

Its bearer a servant of goats,

and the sword is a servant of Dhu al-Fiqar.

And the sword a servant of the Lord of retribution.
