قد كَتبنا في قطعةٍ من جِرابِ

قد كَتبنا في قطعةٍ من جِرابِ

وجعَلنا المَقالَ غيرَ صَوابِ

وجعَلنا المَقالَ غيرَ صَوابِ

We have written on a scrap of a leather bag,

We wrote on a piece of parchment

and made our words unsound.

And made the treatise incorrect

ودَعَوْناكَ لا لتجمعَ شَملاً

ودَعَوْناكَ لا لتجمعَ شَملاً

وبَعَثْنا ابنَ دأيةٍ بالكِتابِ

وبَعَثْنا ابنَ دأيةٍ بالكِتابِ

And we invited you, not to gather a company together,

We called you not to reunite

and sent Ibn Daʾya with the letter.

And sent the son of D'aiya with the book

فإذا جِئتَنَا فجىءْ بنَديمٍ

فإذا جِئتَنَا فجىءْ بنَديمٍ

وسَماعٍ ومجلِسٍ وشَرابِ

وسَماعٍ ومجلِسٍ وشَرابِ

So when you come to us, come with a boon companion,

So when you come to us, come with a boon companion

and music, a gathering, and wine.

And listening, and a sitting, and drink
