ماسَتْshe swayed بدعصِwith a sand mound نَقاًof dune-sand يجاذبُtugging against أَهْيَفَاa slender form
ماسَتْ بدعصِ نَقاً يجاذبُ أَهْيَفَا
ولوتْand she bent عليهabove it الخزرانةَthe bamboo stem مِعْطفاas a flank
ولوتْ عليه الخزرانةَ مِعْطفا
She swayed with a mound of sand tugging against a slender form,
She walked with a slender waist that entices admirers,
And curved above it a bamboo stem for a flank.
As if the robe wrapped around was a cloak.
خودٌa young beauty حَوَتْshe possessed مُقَلَthe eyes of الماةthe oryx وجيدَهاand its neck
خودٌ حَوَتْ مُقَلَ الماة وجيدَها
وحَوَىand enclosed الوشاحُthe sash لهاfor her هضيماًa slender waist مُخْطَفَاtapering
وحَوَى الوشاحُ لها هضيماً مُخْطَفَا
A young beauty with the eyes and neck of an oryx;
Her cheeks took the redness of wine and her hands its purity,
And her sash embraced a slender, tapering waist.
And the scarf embraced delicate features.
بيضاءُfair-skinned ترفُلُshe walks proudly بالكثيبwith the sand dune مُهَيَّلاًheaped up
بيضاءُ ترفُلُ بالكثيب مُهَيَّلاً
والبدرِand the full moon أَنْوَرَradiant والقضيبِand the bough مهفهفاdelicately slender
والبدرِ أَنْوَرَ والقضيبِ مهفهفا
Fair-skinned, she walks proudly with a heaped-up dune,
A white beauty promenades the sand dune arrogantly,
And a radiant full moon, and a delicately slender bough.
With a brighter full moon and twinkling stars.
أبدىrevealed الوداعُfarewell لناto us برَخْصِin the softness of بنانهاher fingertips
أبدى الوداعُ لنا برَخْصِ بنانها
عَنَماًred shoots ببعضِwith some of دمِthe blood of القلوبِthe hearts مُطَرَّفاstained at the tips
عَنَماً ببعضِ دمِ القلوبِ مُطَرَّفا
Farewell revealed to us, in her tender fingertips,
Parting showed its cost through tears shed,
Red shoots tipped with some of the hearts' blood.
As hearts bled drops of blood profoundly.
ماwhat للتيwith her who طَعَنَتْshe stabbed وتَّتخذُand she takes القناthe spears
ما للتي طَعَنَتْ وتَّتخذُ القنا
والبيضَand the gleaming swords سَجْفاًa curtain بالكماةِwith armored warriors مسجَّفاfringed
والبيضَ سَجْفاً بالكماةِ مسجَّفا
What ails her who struck, and makes of spears
Why does she who stabbed me resort to arrows?
And gleaming swords a curtain fringed with armored warriors?
While she is protected in fortresses and shields.
مَرَّتْshe passed علىalong صدِّthe rejection of الوفاءfidelity بِبَيْنهاthrough her parting
مَرَّتْ على صدِّ الوفاء بِبَيْنها
كمرورِlike the passage of إسماعيلَIsmail فيalong طُرُقِthe paths of الوَفاfidelity
كمرورِ إسماعيلَ في طُرُقِ الوَفا
In parting, she took the way of spurning fidelity,
She passed the bosom of loyalty between us,
Like Ismail's passage along the paths of fidelity.
Like the passing of Ishmael in the roads of keeping a promise.
