بُرْدُ الحرير مُحَبَّرٌ واللاَّذُ
O most gracefully swaying of boughs, among whose leaves are
a patterned silken mantle and fine silk!

Be gentle with a lovesick man: sliced away by the sword
of glances are fragments of his heart.

His tear ducts have been drained in sorrow for you,
since you left, by tears in torrents and fine drizzle.

And love for you has softened his hard heart,
as steel softens in the heat of fire.
