ومُغَنِّيَيْنِand two singers يُقَرِّبَانthey both bring near لذيto the one with الهوىlove
ومُغَنِّيَيْنِ يُقَرِّبَان لذي الهوى
ماwhatever شئتَyou desire منof مَغْنَىabode الهَوَىlove المتباعِدِfar-distant
ما شئتَ من مَغْنَى الهَوَى المتباعِدِ
And two singers bring near to the lover
Singers who bring pleasure to the lover's ear,
Whatever far-distant abode of love you desire.
Utter whatever you wish of distant love's refrain.
نَطَقَاthey both uttered لناto us بلطافةٍwith delicacy وتوافُقٍand harmony
نَطَقَا لنا بلطافةٍ وتوافُقٍ
فكأنماso, as though نَطَقَاthey both uttered بصوتٍwith a voice واحدsingle
فكأنما نَطَقَا بصوتٍ واحد
They sang to us with delicacy and harmony,
They speak to us with charm and harmony,
So it was as though they sang with a single voice.
As though with but a single voice they spoke.
