ومُعَذَّرٍand a downy-cheeked youth أَجفانُهُhis eyelids وعذارُهُand his cheek-down
ومُعَذَّرٍ أَجفانُهُ وعذارُهُ
يتعاضدانthe two aid one another علىin فَناءِthe destruction of الناسِmankind
يتعاضدان على فَناءِ الناسِ
And a downy-cheeked youth—his eyelids and his cheek-down
With apologetic eyelids and excuse
Aid one another in bringing mankind to its end.
Joining forces for mankind's demise
سفكَhe shed الدماءَblood بصارمٍwith a keen sword منof نرجسٍnarcissus
سفكَ الدماءَ بصارمٍ من نرجسٍ
كانتwere خمائلُthickets غِمْدِهِits sheath منof آسmyrtle
كانت خمائلُ غِمْدِهِ من آس
He shed blood with a keen sword of narcissus;
Spilling blood with a narcissus sword
The thickets of its sheath were of myrtle.
