أدِمِ المروءةَ والوفاءَ ولا يكنْ

حبل الديانة منك غيرَ متينِ

Keep chivalrous virtue and fidelity alive, and never let

Sustain noble character and fidelity, and let not

the bond of faith on your part be anything but firm.

the cord of faith in you be anything but firm.

والعزّ أبقى ما تراه لمكرم

والعزّ أبقى ما تراه لمكرم

إكرامُهُ لمروءَةٍ أو دينِ

إكرامُهُ لمروءَةٍ أو دينِ

And the most enduring glory you see for one held in honor

And honor is the most enduring thing you see in one honored

is the honor paid him for chivalry or religion.

for noble character or faith.
