كيفَhow ترجوyou hope أنْto تكونَbe سعيداًhappy
كيفَ ترجو أنْ تكونَ سعيداً
وأرىand I see فعلكyour conduct فعلَthe conduct of شَقِيِّa wretched man
وأرى فعلك فعلَ شَقِيِّ
How do you hope to be happy,
How can you hope to find happiness
while I see your conduct is that of a wretched man?
When I see your deeds are those of the wretched
فاسْألِso ask الرحمةَmercy ربّاًa Lord عظيماًmighty
فاسْألِ الرحمةَ ربّاً عظيماً
وَسِعَتْhas encompassed رحمتُهHis mercy كلّevery شيِّthing
وَسِعَتْ رحمتُه كلّ شيِّ
So ask a mighty Lord for mercy;
So ask mercy from the Lord Most High
His mercy has encompassed everything.
For His mercy encompasses all things
