قُدِّرَ الموتُ بِلا شكَّ عَلَيك
What have you prepared for death? For surely
What have you prepared for death? For indeed,
death has been decreed for you, beyond all doubt.
death has been decreed for you, without a doubt.

بِئسَ ما استَكثَرتَ مِن كَسبِ يَدَيك
Are they sins that outnumber the very pebbles?
Sins that rival the pebbles in number?
Wretched is what you amassed from the earnings of your own hands.
Wretched is what you have amassed through the deeds of your hands.

مَلَكاthe two angels of القبرَthe grave بِهِof it مِنfrom مَلِكَيكyour two angels
مَلَكا القبرَ بِهِ مِن مَلِكَيك
How dreadful is what is heard of those sins’ enormity:
How dreadful is what is heard of their enormity
the grave’s two angels hear it from your own two angels.
by the grave’s two angels from your two angels.

What a crushing calamity amid your slumber—
the Resurrection awakens your two eyes to it!
the Resurrection will awaken your eyes to it!

And the Ṣirāṭ—you will not cross it safely when
And a bridge you will not survive if
a misstep of your two feet treads upon it.
either of your feet should slip upon it.

Then woe from the Fire is yours, if
Then woe to you from the Fire if
the All-Merciful’s eye does not look upon you.
the eye of the All-Merciful does not look upon you.
