  1. أدهمٌ كالظلام تشرقُ فيه

    شَعَرَاتٌ منيرةٌ للعيونِ

    A jet-black steed, like darkness, in which shine

    A few hairs, luminous to the eyes,

  2. كالّذي يخضب المشيبَ ويبقي

    شاهدات بهنّ نفي الظنونِ

    Like one who dyes his gray hair and leaves

    Witnesses by which suspicions are dispelled.
