ومُودعand one planting فيin المَطاياthe mounts لَسْعَةًa sting حمَّةٍof venom
ومُودع في المَطايا لَسْعَةً حمَّةٍ
فَيُزعِجُthen it drives out الروحَthe soul تعذيباًthrough torment مِنَfrom الجَسَدِthe body
فَيُزعِجُ الروحَ تعذيباً مِنَ الجَسَدِ
And one that plants a venomous sting in the mounts,
then drives the soul from the body through torment.
يُغْشيit besets السوامَthe grazing livestock مَناقِيراًbeaks فَتَحسَبُهاso you take them to be
يُغْشي السوامَ مَناقِيراً فَتَحسَبُها
مَباضِعاًlancets مُدمِياتٍdrawing blood from كلَّevery مُفتَصدِpatient undergoing bloodletting
مَباضِعاً مُدمِياتٍ كلَّ مُفتَصدِ
It besets the grazing herds with beaks you would take
for lancets drawing blood from every patient being bled.
يَحُكّit rubs منwith some of دَمِهاtheir blood القانيdeep crimson يداًone hand بِيَدٍagainst another hand
يَحُكّ من دَمِها القاني يداً بِيَدٍ
حَكّthe rubbing of الظَريفِthe dandy بِحنّاءٍwith henna بَنانَthe fingertips of يَدِa hand
حَكّ الظَريفِ بِحنّاءٍ بَنانَ يَدِ
It rubs one hand against the other with their crimson blood,
as a dandy rubs henna onto the fingertips of his hand.
