Sol 6.1

  1. بيتُكَ فيه مَصْرَعُكْ

    وفي الضريح مَضْجَعُكْ

    Your house is where you will meet your death,

    and in the tomb is your resting-place.

  2. غَرّتْكَ دُنياكَ الَّتي

    لَها شَرابٌ يَخدَعُك

    Your world, which has beguiled you,

    has a drink that deceives you.

  3. هِمْتَ بحبِّ فاركٍ

    وَقَلَّما تُمَتِّعُك

    You are madly in love with a woman who spurns you,

    and seldom does she give you pleasure.

  4. يَضُرّكَ الحِرصُ بها

    والزهدُ فيها يَنفَعُك

    Greed for her harms you,

    and detachment from her benefits you.

  5. لا تَأمَنَنْ مَنِيَّةً

    إنّ عَصَاها تَقْرَعُك

    Never feel safe from death;

    her staff will surely strike you.

  6. مَغْرِبُكَ القبرُ الّذي

    يكونُ منه مَطْلَعُك

    The grave is your setting-place,

    from which you will rise.

  7. إنْ فَرّقَتْكَ تُرْبَةٌ

    فَاللَّهُ سَوفَ يَجمَعُك

    If the earth scatters you,

    then God will gather you together.

  8. وَلِلحِسابِ مَوقِفٌ

    أَهوالُهُ تُرَوِّعُك

    And there is a standing-place for the reckoning,

    whose terrors will appall you.

  9. كَم جَرَّ ما اشفَقتَ مِنْ

    لَمْسِكَ منْهُ إصْبَعُكْ

    How often has what you feared

    to touch been brought upon you by your finger!

  10. فَكَيفَ بالنّارِ الّتي

    من كلِّ وجهٍ تَلْذَعُك

    What then of the Fire that

    scorches you from every side?

  11. يَراكَ ذو العَرشِ إِذا

    نادَيْتَهُ وَيَسْمَعُك

    The Lord of the Throne sees you when

    you call to Him, and He hears you.

  12. فَثِقْ بِهِ وَلا يَكُنْ

    لغيرِهِ تَضَرُّعُك

    So trust in Him, and let not

    your supplication be to anyone but Him.
