وآخذةٍ في دورةٍ فلكيّةٍ

وآخذةٍ في دورةٍ فلكيّةٍ

ترى القطبَ منها ثابتاً وهي تضْطَرِبْ

And one turning in a celestial orbit,

You see its pole fixed while it trembles.

إذا أُطْعِمَتْ حَبّاً من البُرّ أطْعمَتْ

إذا أُطْعِمَتْ حَبّاً من البُرّ أطْعمَتْ

وقامتْ بأمرِ البِرِّ فهي كما يجبْ

وقامتْ بأمرِ البِرِّ فهي كما يجبْ

When fed grains of wheat, it gives food,

And attends to the work of goodness, so it is as it should be.

وتحسبها تُلْقي لنا رَمْلَ فِضّةٍ

وتحسبها تُلْقي لنا رَمْلَ فِضّةٍ

إذا أدمن الإلقاء فيها حصى ذهب

إذا أدمن الإلقاء فيها حصى ذهب

And you think it casts out sand of silver for us,

When pebbles of gold are continually cast into it.
