يا من إليها من ظلمها الهرب
رديgive back فؤاديmy heart فقلfor it is little ماwhat يجبis due
ردي فؤادي فقل ما يجب
O you, to whom one flees from your cruelty!
O you who flees from her oppression into darkness
Give me back my heart, for what is due is little.
Return my heart and say what must be said
رديgive back حياتيmy life إنif كنتyou are منصفةfair
ردي حياتي إن كنت منصفة
ثمthen إليكup to you الرضاcontentment أوor الغضبanger
ثم إليك الرضا أو الغضب
Give me back my life, if you are fair;
Return my life if you are just
Then whether to be pleased or angry is up to you.
Then to you will be contentment or anger
طلبتyou sought قلبيmy heart فلمand did not أفتكI elude you بهwith it
طلبت قلبي فلم أفتك به
سبحانglory be to منthe one who لاnot يفوتهeludes him الطلبwhat is sought
سبحان من لا يفوته الطلب
You sought my heart, and I did not elude you with it.
You wanted my heart but could not grasp it
Glory to the one who never fails to obtain what they seek!
Glory to Him who nothing escapes from His grasp
