أناشدك المودة أن تحولا
O time of my youth, stand still for me a little.
I squeezed my youth, stop for me a little
By affection, I implore you not to depart.
I beseech you with affection to change

أراك مكلكلاً نضواً عليلا
For you, O my youth, I would give my life—why do I
My dear youth, you are what I have
see you weighed down, wasted, and ill?
I see you chained, tender, and weak

وحول رحله إلا قليلاً
Your lost beauty has departed from me
Bring back your lost beauty to me
and moved its baggage away, save for a little.
And delay your departure but a little

معاذ الله بل خطباً جليلاً
And they said, “Gray hair lends it dignity.”
They say old age brings dignity
God forbid! Rather, a grave calamity!
God forbid, but rather great misfortune
