لك يستقل لك الفداء بنفسه
O my lord, may a servant’s lifeblood ransom you—
My lord, the devotion of a servant ransoms you,
your servant, who deems his own life too little a sacrifice for you.
Who sacrifices himself for you out of his own free will.

May he ransom you whose first distress you lifted
He ransoms you from the first affliction that befell you,
from him, and he whom you reached at his last breath.
And from the last breath that left him.

Look at the day you would have resembled,
Look at the day that resembles you;
had your kind sprung from its kind.
If your kind originated from its kind.

It mirrors your generosity with its rain; and when it clears,
It tells of your bounty, then when it clears up,
it is as though your face were what shone forth from its sun.
It is as if your face cleared up from its sun.

Yet you surpass it in that you always
But you are superior to it in that you always
endure, while this day follows its yesterday.
Remain, while this day follows yesterday.
