May you be ransomed by me alone, my lord,

And may you live two thousand years after me.

The narcissus has departed; so drink as you gaze upon

The beauty of stock flowers and roses.

Who will procure me wine at your place, cooled by the north wind,

Now that I have none left?

A supple young gazelle mixes it for me

    With saliva sweeter than honey.

His ass is extremely hot to the touch,

And his saliva is extremely cold.

He picked me a rose from the garden,

Lovelier than his keeping his promise to me.

And he said, with the rose in his palm,

Along with a cup more fragrant than incense:

“Drink—may it bring you pleasure, O my lover—

My saliva from my palm, as you gaze at my cheek.”
