وماand what اقتضىcaused بالرسمof the customary practice إخلاليmy neglect
You asked, my lord, about my circumstances—
You asked, my lord, about my situation,
and what caused me to neglect the customary observance.
and what caused my neglect of the customary practice.
ليستthere is no بجسميin my body علةٌan ailment تشتكيto be complained of
وإنماand it is only العلةthe ailment فيin حاليmy circumstances
No bodily illness is troubling me;
There is no ailment in my body to complain of;
rather, the ailment lies in my circumstances.
the ailment lies only in my circumstances.
وذاكand that داءٌan illness لمnot تزلyou cease ضامناًguaranteeing

And that is a malady—you have always stood as guarantor
And that is an illness for which you have always guaranteed
of my cure and recovery from its affliction.
my cure and recovery from its sickness.
