سمعتم قط أعجب من ضريرٍ

يقدر أن يجور على بصير

Have you heard of anything stranger than a blind man

Who is able to cheat one who can see?

ولو شاء الوزير ولم يزل لي

صلاحي في مشيئات الوزير

And if the minister willed it, my fortunes would still depend

On the wishes of the minister.

لألزمه العصا يمشي عليها

وعلمه القران على القبور

He could make him walk with a stick

And teach him the Quran over graves.
