  1. هاربٌ مني وقد خاف العمى

    بقفا للنعل بادي المقتل

    He flees from me, afraid of blindness,

    with a nape whose vulnerable spot lies exposed to the sandal.

  2. وبكفي شمشكٌ منتعلٌ

    والقفا حبر الشمشك المنعل

    And in my palm is a slipper fitted with a sole,

    and his nape is a scholar of the soled slipper.
