ولي شفيعٌ إليك شرفني

ولي شفيعٌ إليك شرفني

إيجابه لي وزاد في قدري

إيجابه لي وزاد في قدري

And I have an intercessor with you; I was honored

by his assent to my plea, which raised my standing.

نبهت منه لحاجتي عمراً

نبهت منه لحاجتي عمراً

ولم أعول فيها على عمرو

ولم أعول فيها على عمرو

I roused an Umar in him to meet my need,

and did not rely on Amr in the matter.
