Hear, O master, the appeal of a poet

whose manner in poetry wears no finery.

If you employ rhymes, then the best of them—

though scant—is what he hopes for and what finds favor.

And whoever has perfume in the shop of his poetry—

for [I am] a sweeper, and my poetry has an outlet.
