And a guileless white oryx,

A tender, charming doe,

Fresh in beauty, with budding breasts,

whose beauty captivates,

فتنتني بمعصمٍ

She captivated me with a wrist,

allured me with her wrist,

And with a palm and forearm,

her palm and forearm,

وبثغر منضدٍ

شنب الريق بارد

And with a mouth of neatly set teeth,

and lips like dewdrops

Sweet and fresh in its saliva, cool;

glistening with cool saliva.

And a breath, as though [unclear word fragment],

Her breath is as gentle

So it is, in fragrance, like the mention of him

as sweet as legends told

A spirit that aspires

Of Suhā and the Farāqid stars,

to greatness like the ancients,

وندى بخلت به

And a bounty that was withheld

a generosity that rivals

By the hand of Yahya ibn Khalid.
