حَكَيْتُI mirrored سَناradiance الأفْقِthe horizon فيin بهْجَتيmy splendor
حَكَيْتُ سَنا الأفْقِ في بهْجَتي
وصُغْتُand I fashioned كواكِبَهُits stars ليfor me نِصالاblades
وصُغْتُ كواكِبَهُ لي نِصالا
I mirrored the horizon’s radiance in my splendor,
I told the horizon's splendor in my delight
And fashioned its stars into blades for myself.
And forged its stars for me as swords
ومِنand of عجَبٍwonder أنّthat وجْهَthe face ابْنِIbn (son of) نصْرٍNasr
ومِن عجَبٍ أنّ وجْهَ ابْنِ نصْرٍ
صباحٌmorning ويُطْلِعُand makes rise منّيfrom me هِلالاa crescent
صباحٌ ويُطْلِعُ منّي هِلالا
And it is a marvel that the face of Ibn Nasr
And from wonder, the face of Ibn Nasr's son
Is morning, yet makes a crescent rise from me.
Is dawn, rising in me as a crescent moon
