I have attained, in every pleasing, beautiful quality,
I have attained every fine and pleasant description,
something whose like was never attained in times gone by.
The like of which was never attained in bygone times,

If my lord, from my belvedere, takes his place on a horizon of glory,
If the horizons of my existence are graced by my Master,
then where are Sana'a or Sayf ibn Dhi Yazan?
Where then is Sana’a or the sword of Dhi Yazan?

طوْعَat the bidding of السّعودِgood fortune ودَعْand leave غُمْدانَGhumdan لليَمَنِto Yemen
This is the loftiest edifice; so dwell in it,
This is the supreme achievement, so be content with it,
as good fortune bids, and leave Ghumdan to Yemen.
By the grace of the Sauds, and sheathe the blades of Yemen,

Or if he takes his place in my belvedere at dusk, what right
Or if He appears in my being at eventide,
has the sun, rather than I, to show the way?
The sun has no right but to set according to its laws,

رأيْتَهُyou see him مالِكاًMalik يرْويnarrating عنِfrom الحسِنِal-Hasan
And if he speaks of a quality by which I was ennobled,
And if you speak of a virtue with which I am graced,
you see him as Malik, narrating from al-Hasan.
You will find it to be related from the Goodly Example,
أصبحْتُI have become للزُّهْرِfor the bright stars والأزهارِand the flowers مُجْتَمَعاًa gathering-place
كَماjust as غدتْbecame كفُّهhis palm للجودِfor generosity والمِنَنِand favors
I have become a gathering-place for bright stars and flowers,
I have come to embody flowers and blossoms,
just as his palm has become one for generosity and favors.
As His palm has come to embody generosity and favour,
هوhe الإمامُthe imam الذيwho إحْسانُهُhis beneficence أبَداًalways
وحُسْنُهُand his beauty سَنَنٌa path هادٍguiding إلىto السُّنَنِthe traditions
He is the imam whose everlasting beneficence
He is the Imam whose benevolence is everlasting,
and beauty are a path guiding to the traditions.
And whose beauty sets an exemplary path to follow,

For without him the blazing stars of guidance would not have shone,
For had it not been for him the stars of guidance would not have shone,
and without him the paths of generosity would not have become clear.
And had it not been for him the paths of light would not have been clear,

Had his radiant countenance existed in days gone by,
If the illuminator of his rising place had existed before,
Waddah would not have been called 'of Yemen.'
No illuminator would have been attributed to Yemen,

This is al-Nasir, the valiant lord; so leave aside
This is the champion, the intrepid Master, so leave
the memory of Amin, Ma'mun, and Mu'taman.
Talk of trustee, faithful, and trustworthy,

May he ever remain—with victory sought from his eminence—
His triumph remains sought from his lofty horizons,
granted his hoped-for wish in the homeland.
Conveying the awaited tidings in the homeland,
